At the May 24, 2016 meeting, the Board approved the lease agreement between MUSD and Creekside Land Co. to lease space at 2037 W. Cleveland Avenue for the Madera Adult School. The original term of the lease is for 5 years, which is terminating on May 31, 2021.
The Addendum consists of extending the lease to May 31, 2023, and a 2% increase in rent per year during the renewal term. Staff recommends extending the term for another two years.
The District also shares the building with Madera County Workforce Investment Corporation (WIC). This partnership allows this facility to be a one-stop shop. It enables those who receive the high school diploma or their GED to immediately receive work training, employment opportunities, and subsidized employment. WIC tests Adult Ed graduates to determine their aptitude and help them find employment in areas to which they are most suited. |
By approving the Addendum to the Lease Agreement with Creekside Land Co. and the Facility Cost Agreement with Madera County Workforce Investment Corporation, it will allow the District’s Adult Education program to continue to serve the adult students in Madera while also providing them work training and employment opportunities. |
$21,297/month plus Common Area Maintenance (CAM) quarterly fees and WIC facility cost fees. |
