 Background:

At the February 11, 2020 meeting, the Board approved to contract with SIM-PBK, Inc. for architectural and engineering services for the Madera High School Varsity Softball Field Modernization project.   Since that time, SIM-PBK and staff have been working on programming and schematic design.   The schematic design was presented to the District’s Athletic Advisory Committee for their review and feedback in March 2021.

The project has been broken into various phases:

Phase 1 includes the following scope of work – relocate varsity field to east side, installation of bleachers, press box, dugouts, field lighting, batting cages, bullpen and scoreboard.  Also includes ticket booth, Walk of Fame area, and new parking lot.

Phase 2 includes the following scope of work – new field house (locker rooms, team room, weight room, coaches offices, snack bar and restrooms).

Phase 3 includes the following scope of work – Improvements at Memorial Stadium (new home and visitor bleachers, replace track surfacing, replace artificial turf).

 Rationale:

By approving this project (Phases 1, 2 and 3), it will allow staff and SIM-PBK to move forward with Phase 1 (construction documents, submittal to DSA, and construction to begin this Fall 2021).  It will also allow SIM-PBK to work on construction documents for Phase 2, and schematic designs for Phase 3.

 Fiscal Impact:

Phase 1 estimated project cost is $5.2 million

Phase 2 estimated project cost is $7.0 million

Phase 3 estimated project cost is $9.0 million.
